Secret Camp David Meeting Puts Iran and Yemen Back on the Table

While most of us were wrapping up a regular Friday, something quieter and heavier was happening up at Camp David. According to Axios, President Trump's top national-security aides held an unannounced, hours-long meeting on next steps in the Iran war and the Saudi-Houthi fight in Yemen. Anadolu Agency and other outlets picked up the same report Saturday morning.

Who was in the room

Axios, citing three U.S. officials, says Vice President JD Vance chaired the session. Also there: Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, White House envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine. One official told Axios that "things were decided or at least deeply discussed." The White House declined to comment, and the meeting was not announced beforehand. Axios notes the last similar huddle was in June 2025, days before Israel went to war against Iran.

What they were weighing

With negotiations stalled, the report says Trump is considering resuming major combat operations against Iran. On Thursday he told reporters he has to decide whether Iran signs a deal "or it won't exist any longer." On Friday, while his advisers were at Camp David, he was asked about his next move and said if he told reporters it would be "a major story," adding that Iran "is not doing well." At the same time, Saudi Arabia is urging the U.S. to join airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen. Axios reports Trump has been leaning against that request, though officials say he could change his mind.

Why it lands in our driveway

When the Middle East heats up, fuel, freight, and grocery tickets move with it. Down here that means longer hauls, tighter shop budgets, and one more reason to watch the news with both eyes open. Big decisions behind the trees at Camp David still show up at the pump and on the parts counter.

A pause in the booth

We caught one of the MuddySouth Music producers between sessions and floated the Camp David story his way. He sat with it a second, then came back with something that had nothing to do with talking points: is Heaven cold if Hell is hot? He laughed a little and said he does not have every answer lined up neat. What he does hold onto is simpler. Good people have been living and dying to keep this country moving, free, and under God, and that holds whether the news comes in soft or hard. The chat wandered from taxes to turbos before the next track called him back. Busy day in the studio, same as always.
